I didn't get any error messages. Simply I couldn't find the menu items listed below when I am logged in as normal user.

Add subfolder
Add document
Edit folder
Edit notification list
Edit access

I have attached the screen shots of admin login and normal user login.

Update:
I have found the solution for the problem. First you have to read the manual (help, right upper corner). One part is about permission levels (access levels). There you can see that admin can change the access to folders and documents. Back to the document. If you are an administrator or owner of a document or folder you can Edit the Access. If you change the access level of a given document or folder to readwrite, normal users can update that document. Its a very nice feature.
