I want to help - kafran - 11-07-2012
Hi,
I just finished LetoDMS instalation yesterday and I'm liking it. I work at Federal Institute of Education, Science and Tecnology in Brazil. It's a free educational institution sustained by the government. Sice we are sustained with taxes we have to be transparent. I intend to use LetoDMS to help me manage the documents that I digitize to give publicity.
Is LetoDMS development active? I installed the 3.4.0RC3 version, when will it be released? Since LetoDMS is open-source I want to contribute to it and I need to know if it is not a dead project.
I am not a coder so here is how I can help:
* Portuguease translation (the RC3 localization has code problem I think (strange characters in browser) and some phrases missing) I will start the translation from the english files.
* Documentation (My experience instalation was a pain. But every thing is working now on Windows 7 with Xampp and I can write about it)
* Our Archivist Specialist is helping me so we can suggest archival good practices.
It was a pain to find a software like this so I really want to help it to be better =).

No, it's not dead. Just check the version history at sf.
3.4.0 will be released within the next month.

You are very welcome to take the portugese language file and update it.
I will sync it with the english version. Just take it from the svn at http://sourceforge.net/p/mydms/code/1083/tree/branches/letoDMS-3.4.x/languages/Portuguese_BR/
Give me some time, to make the sync. I will do it this weekend (or maybe a bit earlier).
I wait for an updated language file before I release 3.4.0 if you like.

Hey Kafran
I am also a new user of LetoDMS and an older user of its precurser mydms (where development has stopped).
I strongly share your enthusiasm for Leto and its great to hear this offer and I hope the team can make use of it. I think just spreading use of Leto will
make a lot of people happier and more productive and will increase the
potential to attract resources to Leto.

Ok Steinm. How can I do this? Tell me what file I download to translate. I'm not good with SVN or Github.
What encode do I use? UTF-8?
Can you wait to release it with RC4?

The link to the directory with the portugese translation is in my last post. It is the lang.inc file. It should be utf-8 encoded. Just be carefully with the syntax. It's a php file. There will be a RC5 release anyway.

I see, but i don't want the portuguese file, I want the english file to translate every thing again. =)
