Customizable metadata fields & web search engines
#1
Hi there!

I'm new at LetoDMS, and I must say it's being amazing, I like it so much.

I wasn't able to find a feature, so I'm posting this asking for help Smile

Is it currently possible to define custom Metadata fields for uploaded documents? I know there's a "Keywords" field, but is there any possibility of enabling, for example, an "Author" field that would also be considered as metadata, so I can normalize the associated metadata for each document?

Another question: Does LetoDMS index metadata contents into web search engines like Yahoo, Google, etc?

Thanks so much for any help!

No, this isn;t currently possible, but I'm missing that as well and will probably implement it some time.

I don't get that one. What are you trying to archive?

I need to store hundreds of PDF documents from hundreds of students. I just want to know whether that content will be Google-friendly, so if someone is looking for a document at Google and my site has that PDF document, it will be shown in the search result as it was indexed by the metadata associated to that document.

(Sorry for my english :-))

That would require that google has access to the documents. I not sure if the guest login is enough for google to get access to the documents. If it is enough, then the document meta data should be indexed, though it's definitely not optimized for it.
